Common drawer slide types include ball-bearing slides (smooth and durable), roller slides (more affordable), and soft-close slides (prevent slamming). The best choice depends on your budget and desired level of performance.

Measure the inside width, depth, and height of the cabinet opening where the drawer will sit. Subtract a small amount (usually 1/8" to 1/4") from each dimension to ensure a proper fit. Consider the drawer slide type when measuring.

Drawers are commonly made from solid wood (like oak, maple, or pine), plywood, particleboard, or MDF (Medium-Density Fiberboard). Solid wood is the most durable, while MDF and particleboard are more affordable options.
